Privacy Policy

In terms of the General Data Protection Regulation, the trustees of Life Community Church Storrington, as shown on this website, are the data controller for personal data collected by the Church. Such data are used to share information about church activities and, for those contributing to or receiving payments from the Church, to maintain financial records. The basis for processing personal data is the consent of the persons concerned. The data is held on an electronic database, for which the Church Administrator alone has full editing rights. Data subjects can edit their own data, and are encouraged to keep it up-to-date, but their access to the full list is read-only. Data in the electronic file will be deleted when replaced by an update for which fresh consent has been obtained, normally after one year. Some further personal information may be collected for the purpose of organising conferences and other special events from time to time, and will only be retained following the event with the written consent of the data subject.

The Church also maintains an official Facebook page. No one can post to it apart from the four administrators, whose names are available from the Church Office (01798 817596), and they will not post personal information without the written consent of the data subject. Neither the Church trustees nor the administrators can vouch for the truth or fairness of comments added to posts by other people. Nor are the trustees responsible for private Facebook or other media arrangements based on personal connection with the Church.

The Church issues a weekly bulletin, and group-specific notices as required, using Mailchimp. Emails will only be sent to recipients who have signed up for them, who may unsubscribe by following the instructions at the end of the email.

Anyone may request access to their personal data held by the Church, and amend it as necessary. Consent to the use of their data may be withdrawn at any time, at which point the relevant data will be deleted. There is no obligation to supply data, and no intended consequences of not doing so. Any complaint about the Church’s handling of personal data can be made to any of the trustees, who can be contacted through the Church Office or, if necessary, to the Information Commissioner’s Office, whose helpline is 0303 123 1113.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT PRIVACY?
Remember to close your web-browser when you have finished your session, and if you have logged on as a user, always log out before closing the browser. Please be aware that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information over the Internet that this information can be collected and used by others. In short, if you post personal information in publicly accessible online forums, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return.
